Birding
Extravaganza
The Chelan-Douglas Land Trust
and the NCW Audubon Society invite you to bird watch at the Jacobson
Preserve, a 36-acre spectacular example of shrub-steppe habitat located
at the mouth of Number Two Canyon in the Wenatchee Foothills. Over 38
bird species frequent the Preserve and birders have observed Say’s
Phoebe, Spotted Towhee, Vesper Sparrow, and Western Meadowlark breeding
on site. Beginning in March and continuing through September, experienced
and enthusiastic birders will lead excursions. All walks will take place
on either the first Wednesday or third Saturday of the month. There may
be two walks in a month. Walks will meet at 9 a.m. (March-May) and at
7 a.m. (June - August) at the Jacobson Preserve Trailhead just off of
Skyline Drive, and can be expected to last about an hour and a half.
Please come prepared to hike a little over a mile on a trail that has
several fairly steep inclines. To ensure the enjoyment of all guests,
walks will be limited to ten people. To reserve your spot, please RSVP
to Rebecca Garvoille, at the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust: rebecca@cdlandtrust.org or
(509) 667-9708. We hope you will join us!
Dates: March 2nd, March
19th, April 6th, May 21st, June 1st, June 18th, July 6th, August
3rd, August 20th and September 17th.
